Dr Arun Kasi, a well-known maritime lawyer and arbitrator, published his latest GPA manual on December 1, 2021. The book is 50 pages long and gives a quick overview of the topic. It includes a summary of the last 10 years (case from 2012 to 2021) and various worked examples are given. The perspectives of the common law, the UK Maritime Insurance Act 1906 and the York Antwerp rules are covered.
Various issues that are frequently called into question in relation to general average, such as temporary repairs, seaworthiness of the vessel at the start of the voyage, general average replacement costs, piracy and delay are specifically dealt with separately. whole. An appendix with an overview of the York Antwerp 2016 rules, rule by rule, is included.
The manual is intended to be a guide and reference document for industry, shipowners, charterers, importers, exporters and the legal fraternity. It is available for free download.
