Insecurity: Accept Buratai’s call for counterinsurgency synergy – Nigerians say
Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation Nepal advised Nigerians to accept recipe for peace and security suggested by former army chief of staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai
Buratai delivered the Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola pre-convocation conference on Friday, calling on all Nigerians to unite against the insurgents and view counterinsurgency warfare as something everyone should get involved and play your role rather than leaving everything to the military.
The former army chief, who is now Nigeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Benin, also recommended in the conference significant investments in the development of human capital to combat widespread poverty among Nigerians and weaken the tendency to insurgency to flourish.
Reacting to the Buratai conference, Country Director of Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation Nepal, Richard Oduma congratulated the Ambassador for continuing to demonstrate his commitment to the issues facing the country.
Richard said: “For a man who has served his entire life in the military and who in fact pioneered the most successful military feats against the insurgency to claim another national service deserves praise.”
“For us at the Ghandi Peace Foundation, peace and development remain our concern. Amb Buratai’s desire to showcase his military and diplomatic experience is highly commendable, ”said Richard.
Adding that nations are built by appealing to the best patriots, Richard said his foundation wants all stakeholders to surrender to the good advice that Buratai offers and contribute their quota to achieve the desired development.
