Fayemi wants better remuneration for judges | The Guardian Nigeria News
The President of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has called for better remuneration for judges, saying only the best should be given to the judiciary and its workers.
The governor said this yesterday during the special thanksgiving mass in honor of the president of the Court of Appeal, Judge Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem in Plateau state.
He described Judge Dongban-Mensem as a serious and upright woman, who demonstrated a sense of values, morals and principles in all her judicial activities.
He said Nigerian governors will continue to respect and support judges.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Kelvin Ebiri, noted that the other governors present at the event were Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Simon Lalong ( Plateau) and the vice-governor of Nasarawa state, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, while the governors of Benue, Ondo and Bauchi sent representatives.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented at the event by the Minister for the Status of Women, Ms. Pauline Tallen, said everything is being done to resolve the problems of insecurity in the country.
The president noted that he could not do the task alone, calling on men and women of goodwill to contribute their quota to solving the challenges facing the country. He expressed optimism that with concerted efforts and prayers, peace will be restored in the country.
