Belgian politician caught in underwear during live interview
One of Belgium’s most powerful politicians was surprised with his pants down – a mirror catching up to him in his underwear during an interview live from his home.
The mayor of Antwerp, Bart De Wever, who heads the separatist party of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), was about four minutes away from his New Years video interview with Radio 2 when presenter Kim Debrie noticed his outfit unexpectedly below the waist, says the station.
“I’m a little distracted,” the presenter suddenly said with a chuckle.
“You wear a really nice top, you probably put it on especially for us. But under that top: could you be there in your underwear? she asked.
After initially looking baffled at how she knew it, the mayor realized that a mirror behind him had unexpectedly denounced him and, with a straight face, deliberately aimed at his phone to give a clear view of his accident.
“I hadn’t taken that into account. The year begins with a particularly embarrassing moment, I will remember it for a long time, ”he said, according to the Brussels Times.
His political rival, Georges-Louis Bouchez, quickly the teased, tweeting a photo of boxer shorts emblazoned with the Belgian flag.
“I have a New Years gift for you,” he wrote, with a blinking emoji.
