Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, instructed participants in a security seminar to use the knowledge gained to address the country’s security challenges.

Ms Buhari said she hoped the 10-month training had equipped them “with the relevant knowledge and experience needed to deal with the current security situation in the country.”

The First Lady was speaking at the graduation ceremony for the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) Executive Intelligence Management Course 14 held at the Lower Usuma Dam in Bwari, Abuja .

Ms. Buhari praised the tenacity, courage and commitment of the participants in their quest to contribute from their quota to ensure lasting peace and security in the country.

She therefore urged them to keep up the pace and use the knowledge acquired to ensure the peaceful coexistence of their immediate society.

Ms Buhari urged the institute to always promote the culture of gender equality as well as equal opportunities for men and women in terms of admission.

For his part, the director general of the State Security Service, Yusuf Bichi, said that the institute will continue to provide strategic studies to the participants so that they can fulfill their mandate.

Also speaking, the chair of the Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum, Bisi Fayemi, said the seminar participants mean there will be “more women on the table when critical security decisions are made.”

According to her, “they would be able to take the necessary measures to ensure that gender issues are also a security issue. “
